The Tandem RideBoards, Tandem Blogs, Registration & More!

TandemRides.com is intended to be a place where tandem enthusiasts can find other like-minded people and share their experience, (and experiences), with them.  With RideBoards organized by regions and individual Blogs about rides, bikes, equipment, rants & raves, we hope to make TandemRides.com a valuable community resource.  Rally promoters, commercial tour sponsors and even tandem shops are welcome, and we even have a special place for you.

The RideBoards (Forums) - Are just like any other web-based forum you’ve run across, except that you can now upload pictures from your rides!  Please read the small “Announcements” section first, particularly the FAQs.  The rideboards are NOT intended as tandem discussion boards since tandem@hobbes and the BikeForums Tandem List fills those function nicely, and an already too small tandem community needs no further splintering.  They are for ride announcements and/or ride reports, regional rides routes, tandem rallies and/or rides where there are usually other tandems to ride with, tandem rallies, tandem tours, etc.

The Blogs - Blogs, (if you’re not familiar), are just a diary or journal about a given topic, and WordPress’ software makes it so easy that anyone who can type their name and check a few option boxes can publish their pearly prose to the web!  Once you start posting, each entry is automatically categorized and archived for you both chronologically and by topic.  Very handy when others take an interest in what you’re writing about!  Any registered user can have a free Word Press blog on TandemRides.com. 

On Registration - Some may have noticed that the forums (ride boards) were down for some time.  That’s because spammers were joining the board just to get link-backs to their own sites.  We were spending one or two hours a day just combating spam, and that’s ridiculous.  Now however, thanks to the newest version of phpBB and a great add-on to it, registration will be totally controlled by us.  Much easier to manually register a couple thousand tandem teams than to fight a couple million spammers!  That will mean a small delay between registering and being able to post, but we hope everyone will understand.

We’re looking forward to the “new” TandemRides, and hope you’ll join in it with us.  The TandemRides philosophy remains unchanged.  The point of this site is simply to add whatever additional cohesiveness to the tandem community it may offer.
